Swiss German greetings are simpler than Standard German's formal/informal split, but they still carry social cues worth knowing.

Grüezi

The safe, polite default — appropriate with strangers, shopkeepers, and anyone older or unfamiliar.

Hoi

Casual, used with friends, peers and people you already know.

Tschau

The standard informal goodbye, used almost universally regardless of formality.
